My Best Friend's Wedding

This weekend was so special... my best friend got married to the most wonderful guy in the world! (Next to my Frenchman of course!)

We have literally walked through life together...
- Both born the same week in April in 1984
- Both did competitive gymnastics growing up
- Both went to Lake Highlands
- Both went to Texas A&M despite making it into T.U. :)
- Both got engaged literally within 1 month of each other!

We have done everything together...now if I can just talk them into holding off on the babies for a few years, we will be set :)

Here is a recap of some of her fun wedding festivities!!!

Starting off was her Bachelorette Party... we went to Maria Maria (Carlos Santana's restaurant in Austin) and then went out dancing on 6th Street!

The next morning we woke up and drove to Lake LBJ and stayed there all weekend for Memorial Day...it was so nice and relaxing! Check out the adorable cowgirl hat Leslie made for Alexis! It had ribbons (kind of like a homecoming mum) off the back - one had to do with San Fran, one with wedding, one with Texas, etc. It was so cute!

We had a little craft project later that day where we all got together and decorated our own koozies! Mine said Mrs. Frenchy!

This is one of Alexis' showers at Bistro Louise in Fort Worth!

Somehow all the gals ended up coordinating... definitely not planned!

Here is the amazing Bridal Luncheon at Ellerbe Fine Foods in Fort Worth... my mom did a knock out job of decorating and the place was UNREAL...the decor, the food, the atmosphere...so classy and so Alexis! We had a great time hosting it :)

The PERFECT hostess gift... honestly, how cute is that?!?!

The Evans gals with our adopted sister :)

The whole gang of pretty girls!

The Rehearsal Dinner was the coolest one I have ever been to...at La Puertita (the chapel at Joe T Garcias) was the perfect location and ambience... and look how adorably in love these 2 are ... ahh i love them together!!!

My handsome groom :) HE is so hot!!!
My other half!
GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!! I took this RIGHT when we woke up the day of the wedding!!!
Beautiful sisters after hair and makeup! Who would have known Leslie is in her 2nd trimester... she is a knockout!!!
This captures how Alexis was all day... bouncy, giggly, ecstatic ALL DAY LONG! She was honestly adorable at the front of the church...just bouncing up and down, gazing at Charlie, making him laugh, whispering in his ear, leaning on his shoulder... it was evident how much they loved each other and I couldnt be happier for my bestie!
Us at the reception... how AMAZING are the necklaces that Alexis got us??? they are from Urban and I will sport mine as often as I can make it match ;)

The beautiful cake!
Charlie surprised Alexis w/ their first song and it was Citizen Cope "Sideways"-- which is awesome b/c when we woke up I asked Alexis what Pandora station she wanted to listen to on her wedding day...she said Citizen Cope... perfect! They left in a vintage PINK cadillac but I was too concerned w/ getting sparklers lit in time that I didn't get a picture... and off they went to their mini-moon in CARMEL... ahh dreamy! They plan on taking a BIGGER honeymoon next summer to GREECE- not too shabby!
I couldnt be happier for these 2...they are moving back to TEXAS in 6 weeks and I am THRILLED!!!! Logan and I are trying to squeeze 1 more SF/ Napa trip in before they come back...we will see if we can work that out!
Congrats CUNNINGHAMS!!!!

The June that disappeared!

How is June almost over?!?!? Why is time flying by so fast?!?!? SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!

What have we been up to this month? Well, what HAVEN'T we been up to.

Duh, we moved. We LOVE our place so so much and I wish it was mine to keep forever. I will post a few pics of our place in progress and the rest once we make a few final furniture purchases...waiting for all the 4th of July sales!! :) HW party to come later this summer.

we had AMAZING trooper friends who helped move us all day in the HEAT!!!

The cute guest bedroom/ my crafting space :) hooray!!! And yes, Monica the mannequin is back... you may think I am weird, but I got her at Harold's after my catalog internship and my mom painted her to match my bedspread... haha so she is back in action!

See that pile of clothes? Well I had to get rid of like 50% of it...it was good for me... a cleanse of sorts... plus, I cant wear all these cute casual clothes anymore at the new job and Lord knows there is ZERO closet space in these houses... did people back then just not have clothes???

Um our kitchen is precious...if I do say so myself :)

Last weekend we went to Abilene for an Estate/ Garage sale at my Grandparents house... gosh it was really long and hot but also really emotional being in that house without my Gdaddy. I love that Logan always brings with him a sense of humor to everything... want to know how we got through it? Tequila shots... well, for mom and Logan.. I do not do tequila! He can always calm a room, I love that about him!

Come to find out, my grandma was quite the fashionista in the 70s... we found a ton of headscarves, old bathing suits, and dare I say... lingerie!??!? Nannie!!! haha :)

Some of the treasures we took home... a few awesome legit trucker hats... no wannabe's from stores like Journeys. A vintage thermos and a cute "snack set".... my mom said Nannie would bring those yellow plates and glasses into her room to serve snacks...there is even a ridge in the plates to set the cups... like a mini cup holder, so cute!

Work is awesome but INSANELY busy right now... however, I did have my first 30/30 sale last week and bought 2 items...both for Logan! New cologne and TOMS shoes that are adorable and preppy!

This weekend my best friend Alexis gets MARRIED!!! Been running around getting stuff organized for her bridal luncheon on Friday, last minute errands- aka still didn't have shoes as of yesterday...shh don't tell the bride!

So this weekend should be so much fun... I will be living in Fort Worth at the Hilton until Sunday... not too shabby except they dont have a pool... come ON...even Holiday Inns have a pool... we don't get it.

Ah yes and my last discovery was yesterday... PRETZEL M&Ms.... oh my goodness they are fantastic and my new favorites... Sad to say bye to my staple peanut M&Ms but this is like all my favorite parts of trail mix in 1 bite!

Hope everyone has a great week/ weekend... see you in JULY!

Lakewood!

Our new home is in Lakewood on Goliad Ave and we move tomorrow... I should be packing right now, but clearly I am stalling...

Here is the front of our new place :) We are renting the bottom floor and our front door is on the right under the cute patio!

We paid to have someone paint our new place and we are SO HAPPY with how it turned out... we have the U Haul at 9am tomorrow so I thought I would capture & describe a few of my favorite parts w/o any furniture to distract you.

I love the curved archways and the colors we chose! They tie in the fireplace perfectly! The bedrooms are a butterish neutral yellow and the kitchen has pretty green cabinets... I am a gal who loves color :)

Behind there is our cute laundry room but I love the various charming elements our house has... love the exposed brick wall!

You cant tell but our cabinets are green bead board which I love!

Now my pics are going to start looking weird b/c I bought yet another iphone app called Hipstamatic and it just makes everything look cool...u can literally have hundreds of effects OR you can shake it and it will pick one at random which is what I like to do... anywayyyyy, continuing on!

I love all the natural light from the numerous windows and I love that we have ROOMS...right now our kitchen/living/dining is one long rectangle! What an upgrade:)

I am in love with our breakfast nook... the previous owner left the stained glass lamp for me b/c I was in love with it... then behind that we have 2 built in bookshelves which I love!

This is an amazing small stained glass bar.... we are going to put our wine/ margarita/ champagne glasses in there!

I love the fireplace... the mosiac tile pattern in my favorite! It served as the inspiration for our paint colors!

The bathroom has a very vintage feel that I love ...its tiny white and blue tile!

So there you go... a mini sneak peek at our place... I will post more naturally when its all decorated :)

Last night we took a break from packing and went to Simply Fondue which is walking distance from our new place... the Groupon came out on Wed and we got $104 FOUR course meal+vino for $60!!! It was such a fun night.

I have such a HOT hubby!

Now off to pack...Cant wait to have everyone over to visit!

The Vegas

So it would truly take an hour to tell this entire tale, but we finally arrived in Vegas after missing 1,2,3, 4 yes FOUR flights on standby... we were at the airport from 5-11:30pm on Friday night, got home a little after midnight, got up at 5am, went back to DFW, and LUCKILY got on the 7:15am flight out the next morning... Not too swell for my first standby experience, but I must admit that it is a big rush when you finally get on! AND everyone around us paid $600 round trip PER TICKET so we will take FREE vs. $1200 any day! Even if it means almost sleeping at the airport...quite literally!

I am kicking myself that we didnt take pics w/ Josh and Christine but I have zillions of their adorable kids/ my neice and nephew Harper and Griffin... it was SO fun getting to know them better and Logan was quite the human jungle gym.

Favorite Moment w/ Harper: "Aunt Abby... can we go outside JUST US and have some girl time?"
Our convo centered around this : "I have 2 boyfriends and I dont want to break either one of their hearts so I am going to keep both." hahaha loved it!

Favorite Moment w/ Griffin:
Chris "Griffin sing a song for Aunt Abby."
"Okay, Flackel Flatts.... (Rascall Flatts) 'Life is a highway, I gunno ride it all night long...'"
Christine- "What about the new Justin Beiber Song Griff?"
Griffin- "Baby Baby Baby OOOOHHHHH Baby Baby Baby OHHHHHhh (repeat 10x)" hahahah love love loved it!

That night Josh scored us 3rd row seats to his Cirque de Soleil show KA.... Oh my goodness I have seen a cirque show from the nosebleeds and there is nothing like 3rd row, feeling the heat from the fire, seeing the front row expressions of the characters, and to top it off... Josh had the main character scream "ABBYYYYYYYY" at the beginning of the show... I had no idea and didn't really want to flatter myself that it was intended for me...but, it was :) We had also met several of the performers earlier that day and they waved to us personally during bows.

We ate at the sushi bar at TAO that night... it was AMAZING... I think I am part Asian b/c I could eat that food every single meal of the day. We then were quite lame and picked up Josh from work and went home and crashed... after an exhausting long 48 hours!

Sunday night we decided to splurge and stay at THIS amazing hotel!!! THE MIRAGE! We found a great last minute deal on priceline.com and it was so nice and fun! That night we took Josh and Chris out to dinner to thank them for hosting us/ Christine's bday was last Wednesday- it was a great local wine bar and we had a lot of fun catching up with them and swapping stories!

Monday was our last day and we had several things on the agenda.

1. Go to New York New York hotel and DOMINATE the roller coaster... you will see it on the 2nd picture...it starts inside the hotel and rides outside..it was fun!

2. I wanted to walk through all the hotels on the strip... my favorite of course, the Bellagio garden that was spring themed... even the flying butterflies and bumble bees were made of flowers it was so cool! This pic doesnt do it justice!

This is at the Mirage

3. Eat a fancy lunch at the Paris and pretend like we moved to France :) It was lovely!

4. I wanted to gamble $5 on the SATC slot machine for the sheer fact that it was cute. I did and sure enough, I won $175 right off the bat! I cashed it in and we no longer felt guilty for all the $$$ meals we ate :)

On our flight back home we were hoping we would hop on considering I am still the "new girl" at work and dont have vacation to spare and Logan didn't want to get written up / fired. SURE ENOUGH our luck changed, we not only got on the 1st flight, but got upgraded to 1st Class complete with complimentary beverages, a meal, heated nuts, and warm rags... I feel like our luck changed in 3 days for the better! We had a BALL!
